Help Needed

I'm looking to buy a decent pitcher/outfielder glove for my 13 year old son. He's too big for a youth glove yet all "adult" gloves seem to be far too wide for his small hand. I don't want to buy a glove for him to grow into, I'd like to get him something he can use right now. He's about 5'3" and 95 lbs- he's a decent player, starting on his 7th/8th grade team and on the freshman team roster; he's a lefty so the OF and P are the positions he'll play. Any ideas on what gloves in the 12.5" + size range that have small, youth like, hand widths that would work for him?

Maybe have to try a lot of different gloves. My wife got an 11 inch glove that I can't get my hand into if I wanted to (I have a 12.5). That would probably fit him well, but a 12.5 inch may be a good bit bigger.

Some wear a batting glove inside their fielder's glove. This can help keep the inside of the glove nice and would take up some of the slack in size.

Mike, I developed a strap for ballgloves just for that reason. My glove was too big and I had a hard time keeping it on. I have been trying for 10 years to get a manufacturer to put my strap on their glove but so far haven't found one that is willing to work with me. I'm still searching though, hopefully soon I'll find one.

Hi Mike - my company, Kelley Athletic, has been making gloves since 95. I'm not replying to convince you to purchase one of ours... rather, I would like to convince you to buy him a 12 inch glove (no bigger than that) if he is using it for pitching/outfield. If it was purely outfield - 12.5 would be okay. With regards to our gloves, some fit tighter than others. For example, our ProLine and Elevation fit much tighter than our Smooth, Black and Century. It has to do with the components that are inside. All glove manufacturers should be able to tell you which of their gloves fit the tightest.
