I recently read that there was a period when the rage was red gloves. I think it was the 1970s but can't find the reference. Anyway, recently bought a used Sears 10.5" lefty glove that is red leather. I saw the same glove on ebay listed as a "vintage" glove.

BTW, what is a vintage glove? Is anything over 30 years vintage? Or would 50 years be a better time frame?

Well I found the reference and the fad for red color gloves was the 1970s which makes this glove vintage. Also it's a Sears and they don't sell gloves anymore, probably not for a long time.

Vintage is a loosely applied word. Vintage derived from wine industries and the year(s) the wine was produced, also for oils. It has been applied to various collectibles from clothing to guitars.
Vintage use for baseball gloves is generally that of pre 1970s. Pre-war (WWII) manufacturing is also a common description since there was a sharp break in unlaced before the war and laced finger gloves following World War II. Antique would be a good description for anything turn-of-the-century or earlier.
The colored leather gloves were popular during the 1970s. Reds and blues most common with Rawlings, Spalding and Sears makes utilizing the brighte, non traditional colors of tans and blacks. Other companies also experiemented Rawlings came out with Red White And Blue glove models to mark the bi-centennial in 1976. The leather on these gloves tends to fade badly over time and we have pink and turquoise looks after 30 years plus of exposure.
