When I was a kid there were no Nike gloves, I don't remember Easton making anything except bats and batting gloves.

Most kids had gloves made by Rawlings, Wilson, Mizuno, Spalding, MacGregor and maybe a few other brands like Cooper, SSK, Worth, Regent, TAG and I am sure a few others.

With the exception of Rawlings, Wilson and Mizuno, I pretty much never see gloves made by or for the other companies except on Ebay.

What happened to companies like Spalding, MacGregor etc.?

great question, MAS.

Those companies used to do a little bit of everything - ie, they made gloves, bats, volleyballs, basketballs etc. As time has gone by, the world has grown more specialized - and over the course of 30 years or so consumers more and more went to the specialized brands.
