From my reading there is a distinction that catchers always have mitts, first basemen typically have mitts, but can also have a glove (it's really a hybrid between the catcher's mitt and a glove), and then all fielders but the first baseman have gloves. The distinction seems to be that gloves have fingers and mitts don't. Catchers mitts certainly don't have fingers, but first baseman's mitts have some semblance of fingers, yet look somewhat mittish.

Therefore, I propose this forum should be "Catchers Mitts"
